About the artwork
Against a deep, olive-brown background sits a young woman in a saffron-yellow dress, reading, seen in profile, with a white piqué collar and a hairband. Across her and the book runs SHHH! I'M READING in three lines of soft, pink brushstroke letters – the only contemporary element in an image that otherwise belongs to the 1700s.
Jonas Loose from Hamburg has painted the text on top of an old oil painting, so the brushstrokes of both eras remain visible. A perfect piece for the reading nook or next to the bookshelf.
