The Tower

From the bottom of the image, a tall tower of blocks in orange, yellow and petrol rises up, each block edged in red or navy, its top reaching into a sky that ripples in bands. On either side of the tower, two small figures dressed in blue overalls tumble through the air above green hills dotted with small orange houses with red roofs. At the top, a yellow sun radiates wavy stripes of grey-blue, red, cream and yellow, with golden drops hanging from them.

Gerard Ceulemans has drawn it by hand in pastel, where soft transitions are held together by sharp contours – a playful motif for the children's room.
