Santa Muerte, A Tribute to Frida Kahlo's Self-Portrait

Here, Devour Art has transformed Frida Kahlo's famous Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird into a Santa Muerte, so the face has become a pale skull with exposed neck vertebrae beneath the plum-coloured braid, where two black and white butterflies have settled. Around the neck hangs a chain of brown thorn branches with a dark hummingbird at its centre, and a black cat and a black spider monkey perch on each shoulder. Behind, large leaves in olive and yellow-green form a wall, and dragonflies hover above the head.

The fine detailing and a soft, varnish-like sheen bring the image close to Kahlo's own oil painting – a powerful motif for a room with dark colours.

Your copy is printed when you order it, on 230 g matte fine art paper — matte, so there is no glare. If you choose canvas, the artwork is printed on fine art canvas.

The frames are made in Denmark and fit the size you choose exactly. If you choose framing, we put the artwork in the frame for you, so it arrives ready to hang.
